We have gotten a lot accomplished since June 2006 when the Superferry held a get-to-know the Superferry public information meeting, and it became abundantly clear: Ferry representatives were telling island residents, this is what we are doing, its going through, and it will be good for you because we say it will. Kaua’i has a historical reputation for not taking things lying down, and our movement thus began. A 6,000 signature petition from mostly Kaua’i residents was organized and delivered to our governor, Linda Lingle, but she refused to receive it. Then all 4 neighbor island County Councils (representing approximately 250,000 residents) passed resolutions in favor of an independent EIS for the Superferry. But our governor and U.S. Congressmen still turn a deaf ear. We need your help in bringing this to the next level. The Superferry advertising budget is… well, the size of the Superferry… yet we have a duty to protect the land and sentient sea life here that is firmly rooted in life preserving principle, done for the benefit of our generation and generations yet to come. As we grow in size and have a coordinated effort, our collective voice will be clearly heard. You are a vital part. If we don’t get the message out in the coming months, we all lose. "The
ultimate test of man's conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice
something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not
be heard." "Unless
someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Thank you for your generosity! Mahalo Nui Loa!
